So, on another note. We decided to finally use a gift certificate that the company I used to work for had given us to a fancy mountain resort. The seafood buffet was delicious, but when the bill came, we were certainly glad that we had a gift card to mostly pay for the meal. After running our card, the server returned our check, but curiously the bill amount did not seem to have subtracted the amount of the gift card, so we asked the server to check again. She came back less than a minute later with a large smile on her face, "OH, the gift card has expired, so you don't have to worry about anything!". We were a bit stunned by her happy response to the fact that we would now be footing the rather enormous bill completely on our own, and left the restaurant. (Luckily we finally got it all pleasantly worked out a little later). Who says stuff like that?! Now, we laugh when anything on the wrong side comes up, "Oh, good! Now we don't have to worry about anything!" Thank heavens for our optimistic server.
Jane creamed her face and the table cloth with her fruit tart and chocolate covered strawberry. Maybe that's why the server was so glad to see us go.
So I don't know if you'll even see this comment because I'm writing it so late... but you'll never believe that the same thing just happened to us.
ReplyDeleteDarren and I finally made it out to use our gift card and it didn't work either. The server didn't seem too concerned that we were going to have to pay the bill. However, I had a mini heart attack. Never in my life would I pay for food that costs more that an entire outfit:)
Luckily we got it all worked out too.
